libraries (a call for submissions from writers and artists)

'Beyond the national library of any nation lies a library greater than all, because it contains each and every one of them: an inconceivably vast and ideal library of all the books ever written, and of those that exist only as possibilities, as volumes still to come. This colossal accumulation of libraries overshadows any single collection of books and yet is implied in every one of their volumes.'
Alberto Manguel, The Library at Night

For Paraxis 02 we're currently seeking submissions of artwork and very short pieces of writing on the theme of libraries, which we'll be publishing in an online collage alongside a selection of library-themed stories and essays in late September.

Submissions could be memories, descriptions, drawings, fragments of story, photographs, micro-fiction, doodles or anything else you can come up with. We would be particularly excited by work that incorporates both text and image.

Send us what you’ve got to paraxis.org@gmail.com and put ‘Paraxis Library Wall’ in the email subject line. We’re hoping to use as much of what we get sent as possible. Please send text in the body of the email or as a .doc file. Images should be sent as jpgs.

Maximum word count: 250 words
Deadline: 31st July 2011
